TAYLOR’S GRADUATE CAPABILITY
BIOLOGY
Discipline specific knowledge
-Learning biology teaches me how to be the optimum student who study smartly and not study hardly. I tried to study smartly for this specific subject as it requires a lot of reading. Of course other subjects are also vital to study smartly too. Biology also requires students to memorise and understand the contents of the syllabus concisely. Practising experiments also require this type of capability which helps students to know and deeply understand the procedures as to ensure the accuracy of experiments that have yet done.
Interpersonal skills
-Biology requires me to be an extrovert rather than introvert which could make my life a lot easier. I believe that being active in study groups can improve my understanding about this subject quite drastically rather than studying alone. I can ask anytime if I have doubts about certain chapters and hear opinions from my friends. Presentations also will be easier if I have this capability in my hands. Presenting is not an easy job, because it requires me to be fully focused on what topic I am discussing with my class. I have to make my friends understand fully what I am saying throughout my presentation.
Thinking and problem solving
-Thinking creatively and critical is simple if we practice to solve complicated problems more often. We can’t run from problems especially in Biology. I had learned to think more critically when doing revision. Being biologists also require a high capability to think out-of-the-box especially during confronting biological cases and scenarios. For example, the latest technology that doctors nowadays are able to do heart transplant from cadavers
Lifelong learning
-Learning is a lifelong process. We will never run out of knowledge. Doing researches and experiments. I learned that learning biology requires a very deep passion towards it. I have to make research and look for extra information on my own initiative, independently
